A BILL SEEKING TO PROVIDE THE FISH MARKETING ORGANISATION ΤΟ PRESCRIBE A RATE OF COMMISSION FOR SALES OF MARINE FISH IN ITS WHOLESALE MARKETS WAS INTRODUCED INTO THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TODAY WEDNESDAY).
MOVING THE SECOND READING OF THE BILL, THE SECRETARY FOR ECONOMIC SERVICES, MRS ANSON CHAN, SAID THE BILL WOULD STREAMLINE THE PROCEDURE FOR PRESCRIBING THE RATE OF COMMISSION WHILE ENSURING THAT ANY DECISION TO CHANGE THE RATE WAS TAKEN ONLY AFTER CONSULTATION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THOSE WHO BUY AND SELL FISH THROUGH WHOLESALE FISH MARKETS.
AT PRESENT, ANY VARIATION OF THE RATE OF COMMISSION REQUIRES AN AMENDMENT TO THE FISH MARKETING ORGANISATION'S BY-LAWS.
THE GOVERNOR
SUCH AMENDMENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ΤΟ AND ARE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

ADVERTISING VEHICLES SERVE NO TRANSPORT FUNCTION AND ANY NEED MOBILE ADVERTISING IS BEING MET IN OTHER WAYS, FOR EXAMPLE BY BUSES, TRAMS AND TAXIS.
THIS WAS STATED BY THE SECRETARY FOR TRANSPORT, MR MICHAEL LEUNG, AT THE RESUMED DEBATE ON THE SECOND READING OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) BILL 1992 IN THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL TODAY (WEDNESDAY), THE PURPOSE OF WHICH IS ΤΟ BAN VEHICLES USED PREDOMINATELY FOR COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING.

LEUNG SAID SINCE THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THESE VEHICLES WAS TO DISPLAY ADVERTISEMENTS, THEY WERE DRAWN TO THE MOST CONGESTED AREAS AT THE BUSIEST TIMES TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM EFFECT AND THEREFORE ADDING то
