EXTENDING FROM TING KAU, CRA1 IS MAINLY AN ELEVATED DUAL THREE- LANE CARRIAGEWAY.
IT CROSSES THE NORTH RAMBLER CHANNEL ON A CABLE-STAYED TO THE NORTH COAST OF TSING YI.
BRIDGE
IT CONTINUES SOUTHWARDS ON THE WESTERN PART OF TSING YI VIA THE ROUTE 3/LANTAU FIXED CROSSING INTERCHANGE.
AT SAI TSO WAN, IT TURNS EASTWARDS AND TUNNELS TO CROSS TO THE EAST COAST OF TSING YI.
ENTERS TWIN BORED
IT THEN CROSSES THE RAMBLER CHANNEL TO KWAI CHUNG ON A BRIDGE.
AT KWAI CHUNG, CRA1 WILL BECOME A DUAL FOUR-LANE ELEVATED CARRIAGEWAY EXTENDING то CHEUNG SHA WAN WHERE IT CONNECTS THE PROPOSED WEST KOWLOON EXPRESSWAY.
IT WAS ENVISAGED THAT CONSTRUCTION OF CRA1 WOULD BE COMPLETED IN MID-1996 TO TIE IN WITH THE OPENING OF THE NEW AIRPORT AT CHEK LAP KOK IN 1997.
CRA4, A DUAL TWO-LANE ELEVATED ROAD, WILL BRANCH OUT FROM CRA1 NEAR THE ROUTE 3/LANTAU FIXED CROSSING INTERCHANGE IN TSING YI.
IT GOES SOUTHWARDS AND DIAGONALLY CUTS ACROSS TSING YI VIA BORED TUNNELS AND EMERGES IN SOUTHEAST TSING YI.
IT CROSSES THE RAMBLER CHANNEL TO THE PROPOSED STONECUTTERS RECLAMATION IN THE FORM OF EITHER AN IMMERSED TUBE TUNNEL OR A BRIDGE.
CRA4 THEN TRAVERSES THE PROPOSED WEST KOWLOON RECLAMATION LINK WITH THE WEST KOWLOON EXPRESSWAY IN CHEUNG SHA WAN.
TO
WORKS ON CRA4 WOULD BE COMPLETED IN AROUND 15 YEARS
TIME.
MR KWEI SAID THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN WORK WOULD DEVELOP THE ALIGNMENTS AND DESIGN OF THE CRAI FEATURES, WITH A VIEW TO PROVIDING THE LAND REQUIREMENTS AND FORMULATING THE BASIS FOR DETAILED DESIGN.
AND
THE WORK WOULD INCLUDE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT, PRELIMINARY DESIGN ON CIVIL, STRUCTURAL, ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL INSTRUMENTATION WORKS, LANDSCAPE WORKS AS WELL AS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL MEASURES.
