FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION MESSAGES SERVE GOOD PURPOSE

PROPER APPLICATION OF FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION MESSAGES IN OUR DAILY LIFE COULD MINIMISE FAMILY MISHAPS AND HELP TO BUILD UP HARMONY IN THE FAMILY.

THE DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL WELFARE, MRS ELIZABETH WONG, SAID THIS TODAY (FRIDAY) AT THE FINAL OF THE FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION MUSIC

COMPETITION.

THE COMPETITION WAS JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE MUSIC OFFICE AND THE WORKING GROUP ON FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN, CHAIRED BY THE SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT. THE FINAL WAS HELD AT THE HONG KONG ACADEMY FOR PERFORMING ARTS.

THE FORMS OF

"IT IS BEING PROMOTED THROUGH THE MASS MEDIA IN TERRITORY-WIDE PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES, EXHIBITIONS, AND SEMINARS 80 AS TO AROUSE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION, AND TO ENHANCE BETTER RELATIONSHIP AMONG FAMILY MEMBERS.

"DISTRICT ACTIVITIES ARE BEING ORGANISED WITH A VIEW TO CONVEYING PROPER KNOWLEDGE OF THE VARIOUS STAGES OF HUMAN GROWTH AND NEEDS, INTER-PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, DEALING WITH FAMILY AFFAIRS, BUDGET CONTROL AND HOME SAFETY KNOWLEDGE.”

MRS WONG SAID THE THEME OF "LOVE AND CARE HELP BUILD UP A HAPPY FAMILY", ADOPTED BY THE WORKING GROUP OF THE FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN, AIMED TO AROUSE PUBLIC AWARENESS BY MEANS OF VARIOUS FORMS OF COMMUNICATION AND EXPRESSION.

IT WOULD ALSO STRENGTHEN MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING MEMBERS AND HELP TO BUILD UP A HAPPY FAMILY.

"THE MUSIC COMPETITION HAS NOT ONLY TIED CAMPAIGN THEME, BUT HAS ALSO ACHIEVED ITS MUSIC-MAKING AT HOME AND AMONG MEMBERS OF THE MORE HARMONIOUS FAMILY ATMOSPHERE THROUGH MUSIC,

IN WITH THE YEAR'S AIM OF ENCOURAGING FAMILY, FOSTERING A

SHE SAID.

MRS WONG, ALSO A MEMBER OF THE PANEL OF JUDGES, COMMENDED THE 16 DISTRICT CHAMPION FAMILIES IN THE PRELIMINARY CONTESTS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES AND SAID THEY HAD ACHIEVED THE AIM OF EXPRESSING LOVE, UNDERSTANDING AND SUPPORT IN A HARMONIOUS FAMILY THROUGH MUSIC.

THE CHAMPION IN THE FINAL OR "THE MOST MUSICAL FAMILY", AND THE FIRST AND SECOND RUNNERS-UP IN THE FINAL, WILL BE AWARDED CASH PRIZES OF $5,000, $3,000 AND $1,000 RESPECTIVELY, WITH TROPHIES.

THE CASH PRIZES AND TROPHIES ARE DONATED BY THE SPONSOR, YAOHAN DEPARTMENT STORE (HK) LTD.
