CONSTRUCTION OF
THE TOWN CENTRE AND OTHER COMMUNITY FACILITIES, HE NOTED.

MR BARNES SAID THE THEORETICAL COST OF THE EXERCISE, EXCLUDING
COULD BE TAKEN AS THE COST MTRC AND EXPO CONSTRUCTION COSTS,
SERVICING PROGRAMME, NOW COMPRESSING A NINE-YEAR LAND-FORMATION AND ESTIMATED AT $1.5 BILLION INTO SEVEN YEARS.
17 WOULD ALSO INVOLVE COMPRESSING THE PUBLIC HOUSING PROGRAMME, 1991 AND 1998, ESTIMATED FOR ABOUT $1.4 BILLION TO BE SPENT BETWEEN WHICH NOW AVERAGED AT ABOUT $200 MILLION PER ANNUM.

NEW EXPANSION OF NEW PORT FACILITIES; THE
TOWNS; MAJOR ΤΟ WEST RECLAMATION AROUND THE HARBOUR; A MAJOR ROAD FROM THE BORDER
SEWAGE AND FLOOD PROTECTION AS KOWLOON; AND SUBSTANTIAL WORKS FOR PART OF THE MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME.
MR BARNES SAID THESE MAJOR PROJECTS, IN THE 90'S, WOULD NOT BE THE ONLY ONES AFFECTED.
