EXCO ENDORSES MEASURES TO RELIEVE TUNNEL CONGESTION
ENDORSED MEASURES TAKEN BY THE THE GOVERNOR-IN-COUNCIL HAS TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT TO RELIEVE CONGESTION AT THE LION ROCK TUNNEL.

PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE TO BE TECHNICALLY FEASIBLE, BUT THE SAFETY
RESOLVED. IT WAS PRESENCE OF A HIGH PRESSURE GAS MAIN COULD NOT BE THEREFORE DECIDED THAT THE SCHEME WOULD NOT BE PURSUED FURTHER.
BETWEEN NOVEMBER 23 AND DECEMBER 21 LAST YEAR, EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED AT THE LION ROCK TUNNEL.
A ONE-WAY TOLL
THE LIFTING OF RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT SHOWED THAT NEITHER
IN VEHICLE MERGING ARRANGEMENTS TOLLS NOR THE VARIATIONS
HAD ANY
RAD EXCO TUNNEL CAPACITY,
ARRIVED THAT THE EFFECT ON ONE-WAY TOLL SYSTEM SHOULD NOT BE ADOPTED.
THEREFORE
DAYS DURING EFFECTIVE FORMATION OF TRAFFIC
HOWEVER, A TIDAL-FLOW ARRANGEMENT, TESTED FOR TWO THE FOURTH WEEK OF THE ONE-WAY TOLL EXPERIMENT, HAD PROVED IN REDUCING QUEUE LENGTH AND IN POSTPONING THE QUEUES ON SOUTHBOUND APPROACH ROADS OF THE TUNNEL.
