HONG KONG CHALKS UP A FIRST IN UNIVERSAL EDUCATION
THE
MAJOR CHINESE EDUCATION UP ACHIEVE NEAR DIRECTOR OF
HONG KONG IS NOT ONLY AHEAD THE THREE OTHER COMMUNITIES IN THE WORLD TO PROVIDE FREE AND COMPULSORY TO JUNIOR SECONDARY LEVEL BUT ALSO THE FIRST TO UNIVERSAL EDUCATION UP TO SENIOR SECONDARY LEVEL, EDUCATION, MR Y.T. LI, SAID TODAY (SATURDAY).
THE THREE OTHER MAJOR COMMUNITIES ARE CHINA, TAIWAN AND
SINGAPORE.
SPEAKING AT THE OPENING OF A SEMINAR FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL HEADS ON EDUCATION FOR PUPILS OF DIFFERENT ABILITIES ORGANISED BY THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AT THE GRANTHAM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, MR LI SAID THIS WAS SOMETHING HONG KONG WAS PROUD OF BUT THE ROAD TO SUCCESS NOT BEEN AN BASY ONE.
HAD
PAYING TRIBUTE TO SCHOOL HEADS FOR THEIR COMMON EFFORT ΤΟ PROVIDE THE NEXT GENERATION WITH A MORE EFFECTIVE EDUCATION, TO ENRICH THEIR SCHOOL LIFE AND TO MEET THEIR PRESENT AND FUTURE, MR LI SAID THE IMPLEMENTATION OF UNIVERSAL EDUCATION HAD BROUGHT MORE AND MORE PUPILS OF VARYING STANDARDS AND ABILITIES INTO THE SCHOOLS.
WITH THE REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF BOUGHT PLACE PRIVATE SCHOOLS, MR LI SAID THAT WOULD BECOME AN EVEN MORE COMMON PHENOMENON AND SUCH A SITUATION WOULD BE A GREAT CHALLENGE TO THE GOVERNMENT AND AIDED SCHOOLS WHICH USED TO ADMIT PUPILS OF COMPARATIVELY BETTER ACADEMIC RESULTS.
