MR LEWIS SAID THE CORPORATION WOULD HAVE A VITAL ROLE ΤΟ PLAY IN URBAN RENEWAL NOTWITHSTANDING THE EXTENT OF PRIVATE REDEVELOPMENT IN RECENT YEARS, AND THE EFFORTS OF THE HOUSING SOCIETY UNDER ITS URBAN IMPROVEMENT SCHEME, AND URBAN RENEWAL PROJECTS DIRECTLY BY THE GOVERNMENT.

HE SAID THE LDC HAD BEEN GIVEN WIDE-RANGING POWERS

IMPROVE ITS OBJECTIVES, FOREMOST OF WHICH WAS TO HOUSING AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN HONG KONG BY UNDERTAKING, PROMOTING AND FACILITATING URBAN RENEWAL.
