THE SITE FORMATION WORK WILL NECESSITATE THE CLEARANCE OF SQUATTER AREAS ABOVE NAM HONG STREET AND THE CLOSURE OF TWO FOOTPATHS WHICH LEAD TO PRIVATE LOTS OCCUPIED BY KIK LOK TUNG BENEVOLENT SOCIETY LIMITED. HOWEVER, A TEMPORARY ACCESS WILL BE PROVIDED BEFORE THE FOOTPATHS ARE CLOSED AND A NEW PERMANENT ACCESS BUILT AFTER SITE FORMATION WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED TO ENABLE PEDESTRIANS TO VISIT THE BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
IN THE EVENTUAL LAYOUT OF THE PUBLIC HOUSING ESTATE, IT IS INTENDED THAT THE KIK LOK TUNG WILL BE SURROUNDED BY A DISTRICT PARK AND ADDITIONAL ACCESS WILL THEN BE AVAILABLE,
THE SHAU KE! WAN FOOTHILLS (EAST) PUBLIC HOUSING ESTATE, NOW UNDER PLANNING, WILL PROVIDE A TOTAL OF 5 500 FLATS WHEN COMPLETED IN 1994. IT WILL BE BUILT ON AN ELEVATED SITE TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST OF SHAU KEI WAN ROAD, ABOVE ALDRICH BAY.
WORK ON FORMING THE SITE IS EXPECTED TO START LATER THIS YEAR AND BE COMPLETED IN 1991.
NOTICES OF THE PROPOSED WORKS HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE LATEST GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
ANY OBJECTION IN WRITING SHOULD REACH THE SECRETARY FOR TRANSPORT ON OR BEFORE JULY 21.

THE TERRITORY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT IS INVITING TENDERS FOR RECLAMATION OF ABOUT 12 HECTARES OF LAND TO THE SOUTH OF TUEN MUN NEW TOWN TO MEET FUTURE DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS.
OF THIS AREA, ABOUT 2.2 HECTARES WILL BE FOR A PUBLIC CARGO HANDLING AREA- 2.9 HECTARES FOR INDUSTRIAL AND GODOWN USE- 1.8 HECTARES FOR A PRIVATE SECTOR PARTICIPATION SCHEME DEVELOPMENT- AND THE REMAINDER FOR VARIOUS GOVERNMENT, INSTITUTION AND COMMUNITY USES, DISTRICT ROADS AND LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT RESERVE AREAS.
THE WORK ALSO INCLUDES CONSTRUCTION OF A 300-METRE-LONG SEAWALL AND A MAIN STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM.
FILL MATERIAL FOR THE RECLAMATION WILL BE EXTRACTED FROM AREAS
THEY WILL BE TRANSPORTED BY IN YUNG LONG TO THE WEST OF THE TOWN. SEA THROUGH AN EXISTING JETTY IN THE AREA.
