GREATER EMPHASIS ON CIVIL SERVICE MANAGEMENT TRAINING

GREATER ATTENTION HAS BEEN FOCUSSED ON MANAGEMENT TRAINING THE CIVIL SERVICE IN THE LAST THREE TO FIVE YEARS, THE SECRETARY FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE, MR HARNAM GREWAL, SAID TODAY (WEDNESDAY).
IN
HE WAS SPEAK ING TO DIRECTORATE STAFF FROM MORE THAN 50 DEPARTMENTS AT A PREVIEW OF A TRAINING PACKAGE +THE EFFECTIVE MANAGER+, DESIGNED BY THE CIVIL SERVICE TRAINING CENTRE FOR JUN FOR MANAGERS AND SUPERVISORS.
NOTING THAT IT WAS POLICY OBJECTIVE THAT ALL DIRECTORATE STAFF AND OFFICERS ON MPS POINTS 38-47 SHOULD RECEIVE TRAINING IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGEMENT SKILLS, MR GREWAL SAID IT HAD BEEN A PROBLEM OFFERING SUCH TRAINING FOR OFFICERS ON MPS POINTS 20-37 BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF STAFF INVOLVED AND INADEQUATE TRAINING RESOURCES.
HOWEVER, HE ADDED, THE TRAINING CENTRE HAD DESIGNED AND PRODUCED A TRAINING PACKAGE FOR SUCH A GROUP OF JUNIOR MANAGERS.
+A TEAM OF CSTC TRAINERS IS NOW READY TO HELP YOU SET UP DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAMMES.
+THE CENTRE WILL HELP ANALYSE TRAINING NEEDS, DRAW UP IMPLEMENTATION PLANS, ADAPT TRAINING MATERIALS, TRAIN TRAINERS AND EVALUATE THE PROGRAMME.+
MR GREWAL CALLED ON HIS AUDIENCE TO FOSTER A CLIMATE CONDUCIVE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE IR JUNIOR MANAGERS, TO ENCOURAGE THE IR TRA INERS TO TAKE UP THE TASK, TO RELEASE STAFF TO ATTEND COURSES AND TO MONITOR MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT AS A CONTINUING COMMITMENT,
+ BELIEVE THERE IS A LOT OF TALENT AND POTENTIAL IN THE JUNIOR RANKS, AND THAT WE CAN AND SHOULD MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO TRA IN AND DEVELOP THEM. WE NEED TO INCULCATE THE RIGHT ATTITUDES AND VALUES TOWARDS PROVIDING SERVICE, AND MANAGING STAFF AS WELL AS OTHER RESOURCES.
