ARE ON THE UPPER QUARTILE # PRACTICE LINE OF THOSE PRIVATE COMPANIES SURVEYED. THE CIVIL SERVICE D1 TOTAL
REMUNERATION PACKAGE (THAT IS TO SAY, SALARIES AND FRINGE BENEFITS TAKEN TOGETHER) IŠ ABOVE THE UPPER QUARTILE PRACTICE LINE OF THE PRIVATE COMPANIES SURVEYED, BEING HIGHER BY ABOUT 25 PER CENT.
(* THE UPPER QUARTILE (Q3) IS DRAWN SUCH THAT 25 PER GENT
OF THE PARTICIPATING COMPANIES' PRACTICES ARE ADOVÉ THE LINE AND 75 PER CENT ARE BELOW.)
(3) DIRECTORATE POINT 2 BASE SALARIES IN THE CIVIL SERVICE ARE SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE UPPER QUARTILE PRACTICE LINE OF THE PRIVATE COMPANIES SURVEYED. THE CIVIL SERVICE #2 TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE IS ABOVE THE UPPER QUARTILE PRACTICE LINE OF THE PRIVATE COMPANIES SURVEYED, BEING HIGHER BY ABOUT 29 PER CENT.
AS REGRADS DIRECTORATE POINT 3 UPWARDS AND ACCORDING TO INFORMATION PROVIDED BY PRIVATE COMPANIES PARTICIPATING IN THE HAY 1986 CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER SURVEY, THE CONSULTANTS HAVE REPORTED THAT -

DIRECTORATE POINT 3 BASE SALARIES IN THE CIVIL SERVICE ARE ON THE AVERAGE PRACTICE LINE OF THE PRIVATE COMPANIES. THE CIVIL SERVICE D3 TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE 19 ABOUT 4 PER CENT BELOW THE AVERAGE PRACTICE LINE FOR LOCAL EMPLOYEES IN THESE PRIVATE COMPANIES.
(THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE FEW COMPANIES PARTICIPATING IN THE PAY LEVEL SURVEY GIVES THE UPPER QUARTILE FOR BOTH BASE SALARIES AND THE TOTAL REMUNERATIO PACKAGE FOR THIS GROUP OF CIVIL SERVANTS).
DIRECTORATE POINT DASE SALARIES IN THE CIVIL SERVICE ARE ON THE AVERAGE PRACTICE LINE OF THESE PRIVATE COMPANIES. THE TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE FOR THIS GROUP OF LOCAL CIVIL SERVANTS IS ABOUT 15 PER CENT BELOW THE AVERAGE OF THESE COMPANIES.
