A DISTRICT OFFICE SPOKESMAN SAID THE BANNERS AND BUNTINGS WOULD ADD COLOUR TO THE HAPPY ATMOSPHERE OF THE LUNAR NEW YEAR.
MORE THAN 5 000 LEAFLETS, 500 POSTERS AND 400 INVITATION CARDS HAVE BEEN SENT TO MUTUAL AID COMMITTEES, OWNERS CORPORATIONS, LOCAL ORGANISATIONS, VILLAGES AND SCHOOLS, INFORMING THEM OF THE PROGRAMMES IN THE FESTIVAL.
ABOUT 10 000 CALENDARS WITH THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF VARIOUS GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS HAVE ALSO BEEN PRINTED FOR DISTRIBUTION TO RESIDENTS IN THE DISTRICT.
LEAFLETS GIVING DETAILS OF THE FESTIVAL ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AT THE PUBLIC ENQUIRY SERVICE CENTRE OF THE SAI KUNG DISTRICT OFFICE AT MAN NIN STREET, SAI KUNG TOWN.
ORGANISED BY THE SAI KUNG DISTRICT FESTIVAL PREPARATORY COMMITTEE, DISTRICT OFFICE, REGIONAL COUNCIL AND THE MUSIC OFFICE, THE ESTIMATED COST OF THE FESTIVAL IS ABOUT $187 000, OF WHICH $75 000 WAS SPONSORED BY THE DISTRICT BOARD.
SPECIAL TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS FOR FIREWORKS DISPLAY

SPECIAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED NEXT FRIDAY (JANUARY 30) FOR THE LUNAR NEW YEAR FIREWORKS DISPLAY TO BE HELD IN VICTORIA HARBOUR.
WHICH
RESIDENTS WISHING TO GO TO WATCH THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY, WILL START AT 8 PM, ARE ADVISED TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND TO ALLOW THEMSELVES PLENTY OF TRAVEL TIME.
PEOPLE WISHING TO TRAVEL TO CENTRAL FROM OTHER PARTS OF HONG KONG ISLAND, AND TO TSIM SHA TSUI FROM ANY PARTS OF KOWLOON ARE REQUESTED TO NOTE THE CHANGES.
CMB BUS ROUTES TO CENTRAL WILL BE RE-ROUTED TO AVOID THE CLOSED ROADS IN CENTRAL, WHILE THE TSIM SHA TSUI TERMINAL FOR KMB BUSES WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED AND REPLACEMENT TERMINALS WILL BE PROVIDED IN NEARBY AREAS.
COMMUTERS SHOULD NOTE THAT ALL THE TSIM SHA TSUI ENTRANCES OF THE MASS TRANSIT RAILWAY - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CAMERON ROAD ENTRANCE - WILL BE USED FOR OUTGOING PASSENGERS TWO HOURS BEFORE THE START OF FIREWORKS DISPLAY. PASSENGER GOING TO TSIM SHA TSUI EAST CAN ALIGHT AT JORDAN STATION AND TSIM SHA TSUI STATION.
