BETWEEN JUNE 1985 AND JUNE 1986, INCREASES OF 12.7 PER CENT, 8.7 PER CENT AND 12.8 PER CENT WERE REGISTERED IN THE NOMINAL INDEX OF PAYROLL PER PERSON ENGAGED IN THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR; THE WHOLESALE AND RETAIL. IMPORT AND EXPORT TRADES AND RESTAURANTS AND HOTELS SECTOR; AND THE FINANCING, INSURANCE, REAL ESTATE AND BUSINESS SERVICES SECTOR, RESPECTIVELY. OVER THE SAME PERIOD, THE CORRESPONDING INCREASES IN THE REAL INDEX OF PAYROLL PER PERSON ENGAGED WERE 9.4 PER CENT, 5.5 PER CENT AND 9.5 PER CENT.

MA TAU KOK ZONING PLAN AMENDED

THREE AMENDMENTS TO THE DRAFT OUTLINE ZONING PLAN FOR MA TAU KOK WERE PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE TODAY (FRIDAY).

THE PLANNING AREA, WHICH COVERS ABOUT 113 HECTARES, IS SURROUNDED BY ARGYLE STREET TO THE NORTH, HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND KOWLOON BAY WATERFRONT TO THE EAST, NGAN HON STREET AND SAN LAU STREET TO THE SOUTH AND TIN KWONG ROAD TO THE WEST.

IT WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE 160 000 PERSONS ON FULL

DEVELOPMENT.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE TOWN PLANNING BOARD SAID A MAJOR AMENDMENT INVOLVED REZONING OF A SITE BOUNDED BY MA TAU KOK ROAD, PAU CHUNG STREET, SAN SHAN ROAD AND PAK TAI STREET FROM +RESIDENTIAL (GROUP A)+ TO +COMPREHENSIVE REDEVELOPMENT AREA+.

IT IS INTENDED TO REDEVELOP THE SITE AS AN URBAN IMPROVEMENT SCHEME TO PROVIDE HOUSING, PUBLIC OPEN SPACE AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES.

ANY FUTURE DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED FOR THE SITE WOULD HAVE TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD IN THE FORM OF A MASTER LAYOUT PLAN FOR APPROVAL, THE SPOKESMAN SAID.

TWO SITES AT TIN KWONG ROAD HAVE BEEN ZONED AS +SPORT AND RECREATION CLUB+ AREA FOR USE BY THE MILITARY AND THE HONG KONG SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION.
