A NOTICE CONCERNING THE PROPOSED ROAD WORKS FOR THE FIRST PHASE WAS PUBLISHED IN THE LATEST ISSUE OF THE GAZETTE.

PLANS SHOWING THE PROPOSED WORKS CAN BE SEEN AT THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN DISTRICT OFFICE, CENTRAL ENQUIRY SUB-OFFICE, CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES, WEST WING, MAIN ENTRANCE LOBBY, HONG KONG; THE DISTRICT LANDS OFFICE, KOWLOON EAST, YAU MA TEI CAR PARK BUILDING, 10TH FLOOR, 250 SHANGHAI STREET, KOWLOON; THE DISTRICT LANDS OFFICE, SA! KUNG, SAI KUNG GOVERNMENT OFFICES, THIRD FLOOR, MAN NIN STREET, SAI KUNE TOWN, NEW TERRITORIES; THE KWUN TONG DISTRICT OFFICE, KWUN TONG DISTRICT BRANCH OFFICES BUILDING, TUNG YAN STREET. THIRD AND FOURTH FLOORS, KOWLOON AND THE SA! KUNG DISTRICT OFFICE, SAI KUNG GOVERNMENT OFFICES BUILDING, SECOND FLOOR, MAN NIN STREET, SAI KUNG TOWN, NEW TERRITORIES.

OBJECTIONS IN WRITING SHOULD BE SENT TO THE SECRETARY FOR LANDS AND WORKS WITHIN TWO MONTHS.

SCHOOLS URGED TO APPOINT CAREERS MASTERS

SECONDARY SCHOOLS ARE URGED TO JOIN THE HONG KONG ASSOCIATION OF CAREERS MASTERS AND SCHOOL HEADS ARE ADVISED TO APPOINT A TEACHER TO BE THE CAREER MASTER TO CO-ORDINATE THE CAREERS PROGRAMME FOR THE BENEFIT OF STUDENTS.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SAID THE ASSOCIATION NOW HAD 378 MEMBERS WITH EVERY MEMBER REPRESENTING A SCHOOL.

THE ASSOCIATION HAD WORKED HARD IN RECENT YEARS IN THE INTERESTS OF SECONDARY STUDENTS BY DISSEMINATING INFORMATION AND ARRANGING TALKS ON CAREERS AND HIGHER EDUCATION, THE SPOKESMAN SAID,

THE ASSOCIATION ALSO OFFERED ASSISTANCE AND ADVICE TO SCHOOLS TU KEEP STUDENTS AND PARENTS INFORMED OF THE VARIOUS OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT.

ON THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CAREERS MASTER IN SCHOOL, THE SPOKESMAN SAID THE TEACHER SHOULD PREFERABLY BE ONE IN FREQUENT CONTACT WITH UPPER FORM STUDENTS AND SHOWED A GENUINE INTEREST IN THE WELL-BEING OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

+ IT IS ALSO SUGGESTED THAT THE CAREERS MASTER SHOULD BE ASSISTED BY A TEAM OF OTHER TEACHERS AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE GIVEN EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY OUT THEIR WORK WITH MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY,
