NEW CONCEPT FOR ANTI-LITTER CAMPAIGN

+EVERYBODY LOVES A CLEAN HONG KONG+ IS THE THEME AND SLOGAN FOR THE NEW KEEP HONG KONG CLEAN PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED TODAY (MONDAY) BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE URBAN COUNCIL KEEP HONG KONG CLEAN COMMITTEE, MR WALTER SULKE.
THE 'EYES' LOGO AND THE SLOGAN - +HONG KONG IS WATCHING+ WHICH CAME INTO USE IN 1981, WILL NOW GIVE WAY TO A MORE POSITIVE APPROACH.
ACCORDING TO MR SULKE, THE PRIDE CONCEPT IS MORE IN TUNE WITH THE HEIGHTENED PUBLIC ́AWARENESS OF CLEANLINESS IN HONG KONG.
HOWEVER, HE EMPHASISED THAT, WHILE THE LITTERBUG WOULD NOT BE LET OFF THE HOOK, THE NEW DRIVE, SUPPLEMENTED BY PUBLICITY EFFORTS IN THE NEW TERRITORIES, WOULD BE AN ENTHUSIASM-GENERATING AND COMMUNITY-BUILDING CAMPAIGN.
MR SULKE SAID THAT THE NEW SLOGAN COULD BE APPLIED TO A BROAD RANGE OF TOPICS COVERED BY THE CAMPAIGN WITH FLEXIBLE ADAPTATIONS, SUCH AS +EVERYBODY LOVES A CLEAN BEACH+ IN SUMMER, AND EVERYBODY LOVES A CLEAN BUILDING+ AROUND THE LUNAR NEW YEAR.
HE ALSO DISCLOSED THAT A NEW THEME SONG WOULD BE COMPOSED FOR THE NEW CAMPAIGN. IT WOULD BE RECORDED BY WELL-KNOWN POP-SINGER ALAN TAM, WITH MUSIC BY JOSEPH KOO AND LYRICS BY PETER LAI.
NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER MRS MARGARET LI, SHARED THE HONOUR OF LAUNCHING THE CAMPAIGN WITH MR SULKE.

THE URBAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT'S ANTI-LITTER DRIVE AT URBAN COUNCIL BEACHES KEPT UP ITS MOMENTUM OVER THE WEEKEND WITH A TOTAL OF 31 LITTERBUGS BEING CHARGED, COMPARED WITH 26 THE PREVIOUS WEEKEND.
THE 31 SUMMONSES WERE SERVED ON LITTERERS AT SEVERAL BEACHES, INCLUDING REPULSE BAY, DEEP WATER BAY, STANLEY, CHUNG HUM KOK AND SHEK 0.
