SEMINAR ON DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION

ABOUT 300 RESIDENTS IN WONG TAI SIN WILL TAKE PART IN A SEMINAR TOMORROW (SUNDAY) TO DISCUSS VARIOUS ASPECTS OF DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION.

THE SEMINAR, JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE DISTRICT OFFICE AND THE AREA COMMITTEES OF TUNG TAU, LOK FU AND WANG TAU HOM, AIMS AT ENCOURAGING RESIDENTS TO REGISTER AS VOTERS FOR NEXT YEAR'S DISTRICT BOARD ELECTIONS.

PANEL ISTS WILL INCLUDE AN UNOFFICIAL MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, MRS PAULINE NG; A LECTURER OF THE CHINESE UNIVERSITY. MR WONG KU! HUNG THE ASSISTANT DISTRICT OFFICER, MR PAUL WONG; AND LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES.

THEY WILL TALK ON DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION AND THE RESPON- SIBILITIES OF CITIZENS, THE ROLES OF AREA COMMITTEES AND MUTUAL AID COMMITTEES, AND ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE LOCAL DISTRICT BOARD.

THE EVENT WILL INCLUDE A SLIDE SHOW AND AN EXHIBITION ILLUSTRATING THE WORK OF THE BOARD.

NEW 1.D. CARD PHASE FOR WOMEN *****

WOMEN BORN IN 1957 AND 1958 WILL BE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR NEW 1.D. CARDS WHEN THE FOURTEENTH PHASE OF THE NEW I.D. CARD ISSUE SCHEME STARTS ON MONDAY (AUGUST 20).

THE IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT EXPECTS TO PROCESS MORE THAN 106 000 APPLICATIONS FROM THE ABOVE TWO AGE GROUPS DURING THE FIVE WEEKS ENDING SEPTEMBER 22.

APPLICANTS ARE REMINDED TO BRING ALONG THE IR OLD I.D. CARDS WHEN THEY APPROACH ANY OF THE EIGHT ISSUE OFFICES WHICH ARE OPEN FROM 8 AM TO 9.30 PM DAILY, EXCEPT SUNDAYS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT SAID TODAY, +TO FACILITATE PROCESSING, APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE THE IR PERSONAL PARTICULARS READY, INCLUDING THE IR RESIDENTIAL AND BUSINESS ADDRESSES IN FULL.
