OPENING REMARKS BY THE CHIEF JUSTICE, THE HON SIR DENYS ROBERTS, AT THE SWEARING-IN CEREMONY IN THE CITY HALL ON MAY 20, 1982
Your Excellency, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Clerk will first read the Commission. I shall then
administer the three Oaths which the law requires shall be made by the Governor of Hong Kong before he assumes the duties of his office.
These are the Oath of Allegiance, the Official Oath and the
Judicial Oath.
The following are the three Oaths:

Oath of Allegiance
1, Edward Youde, swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Her Heirs and Successors, according to law. So help me God.
Official Oath

I, Edward Youde, swear that I will well and truly serve Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the second in, the office of dovernor of nong Kong. So help me God.
Judicial Oath
I, Edward Youde, swear that I will well and truly serve Our Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth the Second in the office of Governor of Hong Kong, and I will do right to all manner of people after the laws and usages of this Colony, without fear or favour, affection or ill will. help me God.
