THE REGISTRY OPENS FROM 8.45 AM TO 5.15 PM ON WEEKDAYS AND FROM 9 AM UNTIL NOON ON SATURDAYS. IT IS ALSO THE ONLY MARRIAGE REGISTRY IN THE NEW TERRITORIES THAT PROVIDES SERVICES ON SUNDAY MORNINGS.

SERVICES ON SUNDAY BEGAN ON JANUARY 25, 1981. SINCE THEN A TOTAL OF 218 COUPLES HAS MADE USE OF SUCH FACILITIES TO REGISTER THE IR MARRIAGES IN THE REGISTRY AN AVERAGE OF 26 MARRIAGES A MONTH,

AT PRESENT, THERE ARE 12 MARRIAGE REGISTRIES IN HONG KONG FIVE ON HONG KONG ISLAND, THREE IN KOWLOON AND FOUR IN THE NEW TERRITORIES.

THE REGISTRIES IN THE NEW TERRITORIES ARE LOCATED 1: TAI PO, YUEN LONG, TSUEN WAN AND SHEUNG SHUI, ALSO A MOBILE TEAM TO PROVIDE REGULAR SERVICES TO RESIDENTS LIVING

IN ADDITION, THERE IS IN REMOTE AREAS SUCH AS SAI KUNG, SHA TIN, CHEUNG CHAU AND TAI 0.

TAI PO MARKET STALLS FOR AUCTION

THREE STALLS AT TWO TAI PO MARKETS WILL BE PUT UP FOR PUBLIC AUCTION ON WEDNESDAY (NOVEMBER 25).

THE AUCTION WILL BE HELD AT 10 AM AT THE URBAN SERVICES OFFICE ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF ME! TAK BUILDING, KWONG FUK ROAD, TAI PO, A SPOKESMAN FOR THE NEW TERRITORIES SERVICES DEPARTMENT SAID TODAY.

TWO OF THE STALLS ARE AT THE TAI PO MARKET FOR SELLING VEGETABLES AND FISH WHILE THE REMAINING ONE IS AT THE TAI PO KUK TENG MARKET FOR SELLING FRESH MEAT.

THE UPSET MONTHLY RENT FOR THE VEGETABLES, FISH AND FRESH MEAT STALLS ARE $70, $100 AND $200 RESPECTIVELY.

SUCCESSFUL BIDDERS CAN START BUSINESS ON DECEMBER 1 FOR A CONTRACT PERIOD OF THREE YEARS, THE SPOKESMAN SAID.

ONLY PERSONS AGED 21 OR ABOVE CAN TAKE PART IN THE AUCTION AND POTENTIAL BIDDERS ARE REQUESTED TO BRING ALONG THEIR IDENTITY CARDS AND FIVE PHOTOGRAPHS TO THE AUCTION VENUE.
