MR HAMMOND SAID THAT THE TV PROGRAMME, JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE FEDERATION OF HONG KONG INDUSTRIES AND THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT AND PRODUCED BY RADIO TELEVISION HONG KONG, WILL BE SCREENED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER THIS YEAR.
THE TEAMS TAKING PART IN THE TV PROGRAMME, WHICH AIMS TO PROMOTE INDUSTRIAL SAFETY, WILL BE FORMED EXCLUSIVELY BY WORKERS FROM THE MANUFACTURING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRIES,
THE PROGRAMME IS ONE OF THE MORE INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES IN THIS YEAR'S INDUSTRIAL SAFETY CAMPAIGN.
ALREADY IN PROGRESS IS THE INDUSTRIAL SAFETY QUIZ COMPETITION
ON RTV'S +HAPPY HOUR+ PROGRAMME ON THE CHINESE CHANNEL.
JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE HONG KONG DAILY NEWS, RTV, THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT AND CO-SPONSORED BY THREE COMMERCIAL FIRMS, THE COMPETITION IS AIMED AT REMINDING PEOPLE TO BE MORE SAFETY CONSCIOUS AND AT INCREASING THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
MR HAMMOND SAID THAT INITIAL RESPONSE TO THIS COMPETITION HAD BEEN +TREMENDOUS+, WITH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, MOSTLY WORKERS, JOINING IN THE CONTESÍ.
THE YEAR'S PUBLICITY PROJECTS ON INDUSTRIAL SAFETY WILL CULMINATE IN A LARGE-SCALE AUDIO-VISUAL LIGHT DISPLAY, FEATURING INDUSTRIAL SAFETY AND HEALTH,
THIS SPACE MUSEUM+ TYPE OF SHOW, COSTING ABOUT $500 000 WILL BE HELD IN THE KESWICK HALL OF THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC IN FEBRUARY NEXT YEAR.
IN ADDITION TO THESE EXCITING PROJECTS, THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT HAS ALSO PREPARED MANY OTHER PUBLICITY ITEMS TO SUPPLEMENT THE LARGE SCALE PUBLICITY EVENTS.
THESE INCLUDED POSTERS, SHORT TV ANNOUNCEMENTS, ADVERTISEMENTS IN NEWSPAPERS AND MTR STATIONS, AND SAFETY POSTER COMPETITIONS,
+ THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT'S INDUSTRIAL SAFETY PUBLICITY PROGRAMME FOR THE YEAR IS A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH AIMED AT THE WIDEST POSSIBLE SECTION OF THE PUBLIC AND EMPLOYING THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS POSSIBLE TO AROUSE THEIR INTEREST IN INDUSTRIAL SAFETY. IT IS AN INDICATION OF THE DEPARTMENT'S DETERMINED EFFORTS TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE STANDARD OF INDUSTRIAL SAFETY IN HONG KONG,+ MR HAMMOND SAID.
HE CALLED ON HIS AUDIENCE TO LEND THEIR SUPPORT BY SPREADING THE INDUSTRIAL SAFETY MESSAGE AND INVITED INTERESTED PARTIES TO SPONSOR OR CO-SPONSOR INDUSTRIAL SAFETY CAMPAIGN PUBLICITY PROJECTS IN THE FUTURE.
