Mr. LO Chi-chung

Mr. Lo was first appointed to the Government service

in 1947. He joined the New Territories Administration in 1954

and became Senior Liaison Officer in 1976 when the post was

created. He reached retirement age in 1976 but has had his

service extended. He has acquired a wealth of knowledge of

local personalities, aspirations and politics which has enabled him to play a valuable part in the administration of the New

Territories. As head of the Liaison Grade he has also made a

considerable contribution to the expansion of the grade made necessary by the development of the New Territories. addition to his official duties, Mr. Lo has been much involved

in the development of sport, particularly in the Yuen Long District Sports Association and on the Council of the Hong Kong

Football Association, of which he is currently the Chairman.

Mrs. Nydia Maria PEREIRA

In

Mrs. Pereira has been a Court Reporter since 1959. She soon developed into a capable and fast worker with a high

sense of responsibility, and has always taken great pains to

ensure that her notes were accurate and that her transcriptions

maintained a uniformly high standard. She is now the longest serving Court Reporter in the Judiciary and a model for others

to follow.

Mr. George RANSON

Mr. Ranson has served the Crown for over 42 years,

starting in January 1938 as a boy entrant in the Army and serving 25 years with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Since 1963 he served successively as Explosives Officer, Senior Explosives Officer and Chief Explosives Officer

in the Mines Division of the Labour Department, until he left on pre-retirement leave in 1980. During his service in Hong Kong

the use of explosives increased more than fourfold, and he was
