Mr. Peter Kenneth CAVAYE
Mr. Cavaye joined the British Council in 1965 and has served
twice in Nigeria and in Thailand and is now Representative in Hong Kong.
In addition to a normal British Council programme here he has undertaken
the expansion of the important English Teaching Centre to a point where
for the last two years the whole Council operation in Hong Kong has
become self-financing. The administrative and financial management of
the Centre, which has 7 000 students and over 60 staff is itself a
complex operation, but in addition he has created a number of new English
courses, many of them in the public sector, as a direct agent of the
Hong Kong Government, and has energetically maintained the cultural and
educational programme at its previous level,.

Mr. CHENG Chik-chi
Mr. Cheng is a philanthropist and a highly respected senior
member of the local community. For many years he has personally involved
himself in a variety of projects aimed at helping New Territories people.
He privately sponsored under-privileged children from Ho Chung in Sai Kung
District seeking secondary education, and he is an annual donor to the
Wah Kiu Yat Pao's children's school fund. Cne of his companies, Chiap
Hua Manufactory, situated at Junk Bay, has given financial and material
assistance to the nearby village of Tseung Kwun C.
He donated an
ambulance to the local branch of the Auxiliary Service.
More recently
he has given over one million dollars towards the Sai Kung Hang Hau
Secondary School project.
