as a significant year in the development of technical education. The need
for it was stressed in both the 1974 White Paper and the recent Green Paper
on senior secondary and tertiary education; it is a prerequisite for the
development for economic life; and a technical or vocational education can

with the planning and construction of this building which will be ready
for operation in September, next year. The Education Department, the
Public Works Department, the contractors and many others will, I am sure,
work in close co-operation in order to meet this tight schedule. We all
look forward to the completion of the new school building and the valuable
contribution it will make to our provision of technical education.
