PRECIOUS BLOOD GOLDEN JUBILEE SECONDARY SCHOOL STATEMENT BY THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
ON CHANGE CF SPONSOR
THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS STATEMENT IS DRAWN FROM RECORDS WHICH WERE MADE AVAILABLE BY THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO THE COMMITTEE OF ENQUIRY.
2. IN A LETTER DATED 12 APRIL 1977, THE SISTERS OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD INFORMED THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION THAT, WITH THE AGREEMENT OF THE SUPERIOR-GENERAL OF THE ORDER AND HER COUNCIL, THEY WISHED TO GIVE UP SPONSORSHIP OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD GOLDEN JUBILEE SECONDARY SCHOOL, AND THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR RUNNING IT, AT THE END OF THE 1977 SCHOOL SESSION.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN BISHOP WU,
HIS VICAR-GENERAL, AND THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, THE
SISTERS AGREED TO THE BISHOP'S REQUEST THAT THEY WOULD CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE SCHOOL UNDER A NEW SUPERVISOR, A RECONSTITUTED MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE WHICH WOULD INCLUDE AN OFFICER OF THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, AND A NEW PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL.

ON 18 APRIL 1977, THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE OF THE SCHOOL WAS MADE UP AS FOLLOWS:-
SR. FAN LING-CHI, MANAGER AND SUPERVISOR
SR. TERESA CHOW YIN-HAR, MANAGER
SR. LUI YIN-KAM, MANAGER
MR. P.C. FUNG, MANAGER, APPOINTED BY THE DIRECTOR OF
EDUCATION UNDER SECTION 41 OF THE EDUCATION ORDINANCE.
TO
SR. AGNES SIU LAI-FONG WAS APPOINTED AS ACTING PRINCIPAL HOLD OFFICE UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST. SHE WAS SUCCEEDED AS ACTING PRINCIPAL, ON 2 AUGUST 1977, BY MISS HILDA KWAN WAI-YIN WHO HAD BEEN NOMINATED BY BISHOP WU, PROPOSED BY THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SCHOOL AND APPROVED BY THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION.
5. BY AGREEING IN APRIL 1977 TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE PRECIOUS BLOOD GOLDEN JUBILEE SECONDARY SCHOOL, THE SISTERS OF THE PRECIOUS BLOOD WERE ABLE TO MEET THEIR OBLIGATIONS IN TERMS OF THE CONTRACTS ALREADY SIGNED BY THE SCHOOL TEACHERS TO OFFER OR NOT TO OFFER RENEWAL OF CONTRACTS TO THE TEACHERS IN RESPECT OF THE SCHOOL YEAR 1977-78, AND TO ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL WOULD OPEN IN SEPTEMBER 1977.
