SPEECH BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, THE DUKE OF KENT,
AT THE OPENING OF THE BRITISH INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION
The following is the full text of the speech by HRH, the Duke of Kent, at the opening of the British Industrial Exhibition at the
Kowloon Railway Station, Hung Hom today:
This exhibition is an important event in the history of the
trading relations between Britain and Hong Kong and I am proud to be
associated with it.
As soon as I heard that a major Eritish Industrial Exhibition
was to be held in Hong Kong, I decided that I ought if possible to be
present so that it is with the greatest pleasure and satisfaction that
-
I now find myself back in this territory among so many old friends whom
we welcome here today.
Hong Kong and Britain have of course been doing business together for a great many years, and although that trade has been steadily growing, I don't think anyone would pretend that Britain's trading achievement here has reached anything like its true potential.
