TAI PO PUBLIC LIBRARY OPENED
A library to serve the 62,000 people of Tai Po District was opened
today (Thursday) by the Acting Director of Urban Services, Mr. Alan Bristow.
Built at a cost of $500,000, Tai Po Public Library at Kwong Fuk
Road, has an initial stock of 24,000 books... Up till now, Tai Po residents
have had to travel to Kowloon to get to the nearest public library.

Mr. Bristow said that the Tai Po Library was part of the Urban
Services Department's library expansion programme in the New Territories. In the next few months new district libraries would be opened at Sha Tin, Sheung Shui and Tuen Mun, he added.
He also paid tribute to the work of the Tai Po Rural Committee in
helping to get the Tai Po Library set up.
Three leading members of the committee, Mr. Stephen Wong Yuen-cheung, Chairman, and Mr. Ma Sai-on and Mr. Cheung Wai-lam, Vice-Chairmen, joined
Mr. Bristow in inaugurating the library by cutting the ceremonial ribbon,
TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS IN NORTH POINT
New traffic arrangements will be introduced in North Point with
effect from 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) to improve traffic flow in the area.
In King's Road, westbound vehicles will not be permitted to turn
right into Shu Kuk Street. Motorists wishing to enter Shu Kuk Street will
have to turn left into Kam Hong Street and then proceed via Teat Tez Mui Road
to Shu Kuk Street.
At the same time a PLB Clearway Restriction from 7 a.m. to midnight
daily will be imposed on the section of Kam Hong Street between King's Road
and Tsat Tsz Mui Road.

In addition, CMB route No. 82 between Chai Wan (East) and North Point Ferry Pier will be re-routed via King's Road, Healthy Street West,
Tsat Taz Mui Road and Shu Kuk Street.
Appropriate traffic signs will be set up to guide motorists.
