I have the very warmest affection and admiration for Hong Kong and its

people. The links between them and us in Britain are powerful and

lasting. All of us here I know would like to see those ties strengthened

still further and it is certainly my hope that this can be brought

about by a greatly increase awareness, especially in the British

business world, of what Hong Kong has achieved and is still achieving.

It is to the success of all these endeavours that I now raise my glass,

and especially to the continued prosperity of that unique British

territory on the other side of the world.
