GOVERNOR OPENS TUEN HUN NEW TOWN EXHIBITION
Full Text Of Governor's Speech
The Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, today opened the Tuen
Mun New Town Exhibition at Hoh Fuk Tong College at Castle Peak Road.
The following is the full text of the Governor's speech
delivered at the opening ceremony:
"Ladies and Gentlemen:
"I very much welcome this opportunity to open the Tuen Mun
New Town Exhibition. This records what has been achieved and what
will be achieved in this gigantic project.
"The exhibition is being opened at a time when the New
Town is developing with extraordinary speed. The shoreline is
changing as reclamation marches into Castle Peak Bay; the Tai Hing
estate has changed the skyline; and big new factories to provide
jobs for the new residents seem to be springing up over night.
"Of paramount importance in the New Town is the building
Some
of public housing as part of the overall housing programme.
