LAI YIU WILL HAVE LOWEST DENSITY

The Housing Authority's newest.estate - Lai Yiu, between. Castle
Peak and Kwai Chung Roads, Tsuen Wan will have the lowest density of any public housing estate when fully occupied in the middle of next year.

The Estate, now mostly completed and ready to take in its first, tenants next month; occupies a total of 34.4 acres with a population planted at 16,200 people living on the 22 acres of developed area. This gives a density of only 736 to the acre, compared with Tai Hang Tung where the figure
is about 2,700.
Each flat is fully self-contained with its own toilet, kitchen and private balcony. The Estate commands an unspoiled view over Tsuen Wan and the
growing new town.

The development consists of four blocks ranging from 12 14 storeys in height; three of the blocks are of the twin-tower design catering for seven to nine person families. Rents will go from $273 per month to $330 per month For flats of 356 429 square Feet in size. The 12-storey block will consist of 272 flats each of 591 square feet for 12-person families, but rents for these
have yet to be decided.

The total number of flats in the development is 2,411.
Various facilities will be provided in the Estate, including primary and secondary school, kindergartens and transport. It will have a multi-storey garage with almost 400 parking spaces for estate residents and a three-storey block containing shops and restaurants, as well as workshops Tenancies for commercial premises were advertised on December 17 and tenders close at the end of this month. These are expected to be keenly sought after.
