During this period the Authority will have eight estates
under construction the first of which, the virtually completed Lai
Yiu Estate, Tsuen Wan, is to take in tenants within the next few weeks.
Eventually, close to 16,000 people will live there.
By March next year, part of the First Phase of Cheung Ching
Estate on Tsing Yi Island will be completed, offering accommodation
to about 23,300 people.
During the two-year period, the Public Works Department will
build four estates to house approximately 79,000 people.
