OPT FOR TUEN MUN OR SHATIN
HOUSING DEPARTMENT SPOKESMAN ADVISES
Applicants applying for public housing through the Housing
Department waiting list were advised today (Tuesday) to opt for accommodation in the New Territories,
Applicants are normally required to list three districts of their choice in order of preference when filling in their application forms.
A Housing Department spokesman advised that they should nominate either Tuen Mun or Shatin as their first choice.
"Such applicants will likely be housed earlier than those who seek accommodation in the urban estates which are now fully let and casual vacancies are few and far in between," the spokesman said.
Also, there are already more than enough early applicants to fill vacancies in the urban estates for many years to come.
At both Tuen Mun and Shatin, a mumber of sites have been
earmarked for public housing estates.
Tai Hing Estate at Tuen Mun will be ready for occupation by the middle of next year. Work on the Wo Che Estate in Shatin is progressing smoothly and the first domestic block is expected to be
completed by late next year.
