FLATS AND INDIVIDUAL TOILETS TO BE PROVIDED THROUGH CONVERSION WORK
AT YAU TONG ESTATE
Work is expected to start shortly on a project to convert and
renovate disused utility areas of Mark III blocks in Yau Tong Estate.
An Authority spokesman said the project was a continuation of
its plans to improve Mark III buildings.
The work, to be carried out in seven blocks, is due to be
completed next April.
Through converting disused washing areas, a total of 44 flats
for 176 people will be provided.
A further part of the contract includes the conversion of 72
urinals into private toilets in 17 blocks.
The Authority spokesman said similar work was carried out in
Tez Wan Shan and Tai Wo Hau estates a few years ago and was generally
welcomed by the tenants.
The spokesman said tenders are to be invited for similar work
in six blocks of Tin Wan Estate and 13 blocks of Kwai Chung Estate,
providing 135 flats for 540 people. These will be ready by May or June
next year.
There were also plans for rooftop conversions in Lok Fu and
Tung Tau estates, from which a further 80 flats for 640 people would
result by October 1977.
