NEW APPOINTMENTS TO LEGISLATIVE & EXECUTIVE COUNCILS
The Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose today (Thursday) announced the
appointment of eight new Unofficial and five new Official Members to the
Legislative Council.
The new Unofficial Members are: The Rev. Joyce M. Bennett, an
educationist and social worker; Mr. S.L. Chen, an engineer; Miss Lydia Dunn,
a company director; Mr. Henry Hu Hung-lick, a barrister and an elected
Urban Councillor; Mr. Leung Tat-shing, a trade unionist; the Rev. Father
Patrick Terence McGovern, founder of the Industrial Relations Institute;
Mr. Peter C. Wong, a solicitor; and Mr. Wong Lam, an MAC Chairman and
member of the Central Fight Violent Crime Committee.
The new Official Members are: the Secretary-designate for Economic
Services, Mr. D.G. Jeaffreson; the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr. A.J.
Scott; the Solicitor-General, Mr. G.C. Thornton, Q.C.; the Director of
Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. E.H. Nichols; and the Director of Social
Welfare, Mr. Thomas Lee Chun-yon,
