3RD INLAND REVENUE ORDINANCE REVIEW COMMITTED
A Government spokesman announced this evening that the Third
Inland Revenue Ordinance Review Committee would start work on the 15th June
next and would submit its report and recommendations to the Governor within
six months from that date.
The Chairman of the Committee is to be Mr. J.A. Johnstone who was,
until September 1973, a Commissioner of Inland Revenue in the United Kingdom,
He has a wide knowledge of income tax law and practice and, in recent years,
has specialised in the field of comparative taxation. In addition, he was
secretary to the 1955 Royal Commission on the Taxation of Profits and
Income (the Radcliffe Commission). Since retiring from the Board of Inland
Revenue, he has been adviser to a United Kingdom Association of Building
Trade Employers.
The Secretary will be Mr. A.D. Duffy, 0.B.E., who served in the
Inland Revenue Department for 25 years, He was Commissioner of Inland
Revenue between 1963 and 1972 and was also a member of the Second Inland
Revenue Ordinance Review Committee which was appointed in 1966.

The Honourable G.W. Lee., 0.B.E.
Member of Legislative Council;
Mrs. Susan Yuen, O.B.E., of the
Federation of Hong Kong Industries and
the Hong Kong Management Association;

Mr. K.A. Miller., C.A.; who was, until recently,
a practising member of the accountancy profession and
is now in private business in Hong Kong;
Dr. Y.C. Jao, Senior Lecturer in Economics
at the University of Hong Kong.
