OVER $77,000 PAID OUT TO FIRE VICTIMS

The Housing Department today (Friday) paid out more than $77,600

to victims of the Aldrich Bay fire to help meet the expenses in re-establishing

their homes at Chai Wan IV Licensed Area.

Families of up to five persons each received $1,250 and additional

heads in the families were each paid an extra $250. All squatters also

each received $100 as re-equipment allowance.

Payment of the cash allowance has so far been made to 41 families

comprising 200 people.

There are still 144 people from 34 families eligible for the

allowance and these people are advised to approach the department for the

grant without delay.

Re-equipment allowance of $100 each will also be paid to those

who have been offered public housing at Hing Wah Estate and elsewhere as

soon as arrangements for payment have been worked out,
