DUKE PROVIDES BONUS FOR SPECT..TORS
The late arrival of the Queen at the Kwai Chung Container
Terminal today provided an unexpected bonus for staff workers and sch.cl
children.
They had gathered at the Modern Terminals Limited quay aron to
catch what was to have been a fleeting five-minute glimpse f the Ryal
visitcrs.
But with the ucon running late from her visit to Tsuun Jan,
Prince Philip spent more than half an hour talking to delighted members
of the sight-seeing crowd.
Pilting a Royal Air Force helicóptor, the Duke landed at the
Terminal's helipad just before 11 2.0.
He was not by the company's managing director, Mr. A.J.D. Lygo,
and the Terminal's operations manager, Mr. J.B. Schottmann.
The Duke, instead of walking straight to the Lady Maurino to
await the Queen, walked ver t: a group of the ccupany's staff, clients,
and their families.
He spoke to abrut 20 different people before moving on to a
Er up of 120 schcel children from the Kowloon Junior School and King
George Fifth School who had turned up.
The young children squealed with delight and waved flags as the
Duke moved an ng then fr 10 minutes.
Then he spent about another 10 minutes speaking to the Terminal's workers, all of then wearing safety helmets and most of them in singlets.
