"At the beginning of the inspection of the guard, with all the
men standing at attention, I need hardly say I was a bit overwhelmed,
but as I moved on, my confidence returned," Miss Wong commented.
It was all over in about an hour, and she was relieved.
But how did she know what to do to enable the rehearsal to
proceed like clockwork?
"Well," Miss Wong said, "I joined the Royal Visit Office from
my post as an executive officer in the Public Works Department. As time
went on, I became so involved with the planning of each event that I got
to know what had to be done, and the time allowed, for every item on the
programme.
"So there I was, queen for an hour, and I can tell you it was an
experience I will always treasure, though in effect it was all part of a
day's work."1
