The intention was to expand this scheme as far as is necessary
to establish a fair price outlet in every district.
Another scheme which has been revived relates to the supply of
rice direct from importers to large businesses. This has been in existence
on a small scale for many years.
We are now working out the ground rules for a permanent system and this scheme too has considerable potential for ensuring supplies to
consumer at fair prices," added Mr. Jordan.
He said that there were other measures open to him within the
provisions of the legal framework for the present scheme and he would not
hesitate to use these powers as and when necessary.
