CRASH OF R.H.K.A.A.F. PLANE

Board of Inquiry Completes Investigation

An official inquiry into the crash of a Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary

Air Force Musketeer aircraft on September 27 last year has been completed.

The Musketeer aircraft crashed into the hillside on the northern

slope of the Pat Sin Range that afternoon while on exercise with the army.

The pilot, Flying Officer, M.A. Wightman, who was the only

passenger at that time, was not hurt,

According to the investigation report by a Board of Inquiry,

by the R.H.K.A.A.F., no evidence of any defect or malfunction --

mechanical or electrical was found on subsequent examination of the

aircraft, which could have possibly caused the accident.

The conclusion was that the accident was caused by dow drafting

conditions that could have occurred over the area of the accident in tue

weather conditions at that time.
