POPULATION INCREASES TO 4.16 MILLION
Hong Kong's estimated population at the end of June this year
was 4,159,900
Maak
an increase of 55,660 over the December 1972 estimate,
according to figures released today by the Census and Statistics Department.
This increase compares with 13,000 in the same period last
year and was due mainly to the positive balance of migration in January-
June when total arrivals exceeded departures by 28,400.
The total number of births for January-June this year was
37,346
an increase of 1,378 over the same period last year.
Total deaths recorded in the first half of, this year numbered
10,077
1,028 less than in the corresponding period.last year..
