"After considering the position carefully, the conclusion of the
members of the Community Relief Trust Fund Committee
is that it is
right that the balance of donations should also go to victims of the June
rainstorm disasters," Mr. Li said.
Donations received from the public amounted to just over $17.3
million, of which $11.8 million had been distributed to 24,355 families.
A public notice will be published in Monday's newspapers informing
those victims who have not yet made any claims for payments that new claims
will not be entertained after August 31 this year.
