GRANTS FROM THE LOTTERIES FUND
A sum of over $766,000 has been granted from the Lotteries Fund
towards social welfare services and projects.
In moving the resolution in the Legislative Council today, the
Financial Secretary, the Hon. C.P. Haddon-Cave, said that the grants resulted
from recommendations by the Social Welfare Advisory Committee.
The grants will go to several welfare organisations for capital
vorks, the purchase of equipment, redecoration and the replacement of a bus.
It also allows for a block allocation of $300,000 to the Director
of Social Welfare enabling him to approve minor capital grants not exceeding
$25,000 in any one instance,
The grants have brought the uncommitted balance in the Lotteries
Fund to approximately $4.6 million.
