Serving the new pier will be a 150,000 square foot concourse which

will include a bus terminus and taxi ranks with covered passenger ways.

At present, there are no back-up facilities to the old pier and

it is expected that traffic congestion in the area will be considerably

reduced once the concourse comes into operation.

It is also planned to build a sewage pumphouse and temporary cargo

handling area on the reclamation. Sites will also be made available for

government, institutional and community facilities, including a civic centre,

three secondary schools, and a multi-storey car park. About two acres will

be developed as public open space.
