The Governor also announced the appointment of Lieutenant-
Colonel Ivor Daniel to succeed Mr. Donald Luddington as Honorary Colonel
of the Regiment from Friday (June 1).
Colonel Luddington will be leaving Hong Kong soon to take
up appointment as High Commissioner of the Western Pacific.
Colonel Daniel, the managing director of an export company (R.H. Macy & Co. Incorporation) has been a member of the Royal Hong
Kong Regiment since 1954, was appointed second in command in 1967 and
promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel
in 1969.
The Governor announced the appointments at the Regiment's
Foundation Day Dinner at the Officers' Mess in Beaconsfield House.
The dinner marked the 119th anniversary of the Regiment which was formed
on May 30, 1854, as the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps.
