After careful consideration of the historical and legal background the Secretary of State has approved that nominations should no longer
be called for and they have not been on this occasion.
It is emphasised that this departure does not reflect any change in the Government's view of the high status of Justices of the
Peace in the community, or of their fitness to serve on the Legislative and Executive Councils.
