OPENING OF PEAK POST OFFICE
Mr. M. Addi, the Postmaster General, will open a new post office
in the Upper Peak Tram Terminal Building on Wednesday (January 31).
The Peak Post Office will deal with all kinds of post office
business, except the acceptance of insured letters and boxes.
Two stamp machines have been installed so that 10-cent and 50-cent
stamps will be available on a 24-hour basis.
The business hours will be from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.15 p.m.
to 5.00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on Saturday.
A spokesman for the Post Office said: "The opening of the Peak Post
Office is a further stage in the development programme of the Post Office
and should be of considerable benefit to the residents in the Peak
area.
The Peak Post Office will bring the total number of post offices to
64, including a mobile post office in the New Territories.
