NEW STAMPS TO MARK QUEEN'S WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Two special stamps to commemorate the Silver Wedding anniversary

of the Queen will go on sale at all post offices on November 20.

The stamps which are in horizontal format will be issued in the

10 cents and 50 cents denominations.

The main feature of the stamps is a newly engraved portrait of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, which is being used on postage stamps for

the first time.

Appearing on the left of the portrait is a phoenix and on the right a dragon which were designed by the Government Information Services.

Special First Day Covers, also featuring a design by G.I.S., have been produced and these will be on sale at all post offices from Friday,

November 10, at 20 cents each.

People are asked to obtained their requirements early to avoid

disappointment.

Advance orders for servicing of First Day Covers will be accepted at the General Post Office, Pedder Street; Kowloon Central Post Office, Nathan Road; and Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Salisbury Road.

For this service, addressed First Day Covers must be handed in with

an order form together with a remittance to cover the cost.

The charge will be 70 cents per cover which includes the cost of

two stamps together with a service fee of 10 cents. The covers must be fully addressed by the applicant and not less than 10 covers will be accepted with

each order.
