Commenting on the figures, a spokesman for the Census and Statistics

Department said the rise occurred chiefly in the clothing and machinery sectors.

He said two factors had a bearing on the increase

These two factors made many exporters delay their normal shipments,

resulting in unusually large quantities of goods being exported in September,

he said.
