Tenderers will be required to indicate whether the taxis for

which they are applying are intended for use on Hong Kong Island or in

Kowloon. The exact numbers of taxis allocated for each side of the harbour will

depend on the analysis of the tenders received.

Applicants should send in their tender forms in duplicate and

in sealed envelopes to the Secretary of the Tender Board.

Further tenders for taxi licences may be invited early next

year, if the effects of the opening of the cross-harbour tunnel show

this to be necessary.

"Thereafter taxi licences may be issued on a different basis,"

Mr. Butler added.
