The spokesman pointed out that the section index for transport and

vehicles rose by eight points as a result of the revision of bus and tram

fares on Hong Kong Island which came into force on July 1.

The Modified Consumer Price Index for July was 142, also four points

lower than the June figure, but seven points higher than that for the same

month last year.
