Ronnie Wong will assist with the distribution of special swimming
safety leaflets which contain useful points on how to avoid accidents in the
water.
The main aims of this year's campaign are to encourage swimmers to
use guarded beaches and to observe three basic rules if they get into difficulties
don't panic, float on their back or tread water, and wave one arm to attract
the attention of the life guards.
Note to editors:
You are welcome to send a reporter and/or photographer to cover the event, which will be held
in the central part of the beach. If the weather is
unfavourable, you are advised to contact the G.I.S. duty officer to see if the programme will go ahead
as planned.
