QUARTERLY SURVEY BY LABOUR DEPARTMENT
Of Employment And Vacancies In Industry
One of the Labour Department's regular surveys of employment and
vacancies in industry now in progress is in respect of the second quarter of
1972.
Printed employment return cards were sent on June 9,to the management
of all registered and recorded industrial establishments with a request that
they accurately provide the information sought as at June 14, and return the
card to the Labour Department on or before June 19. The cards are printed in
Chinese and English.
From the information provided by these surveys, the numbers of persons
employed and of vacancies in each of the main industries in Hong Kong are
calculated.
The resulting statistics provide information about trends in employment
over the years, both in particular industries and in general,
It is hoped that all managements which have received these cards
will ensure that they are fully and accurately completed, and promptly returned
in the reply-paid envelopes provided.
The co-operation of managements in responding to the last survey resulted
in complete coverage for all industrial establishments employing over 200 people while for those employing 50 to 200 people, the response rate was 96 per cent. However, the overall response rate was 67 per cent.
